Archaeological discoveries also revealed that it was also related to the Shailendra empire of Indonesia, of which one king had also constructed a monastery in the compCentrallex.
Most of the information about Nalanda was obtained only from the information written by Tirtha Bhikshu from East Asia, these monks included Wuxang and Yijing who had traveled to Mahavihar in the 7th century. Vincent Smith had said, "The entire history of Nalanda is the history of Mahayani Buddhism."
In his travel book, he has also described many things of Nalanda and Bato, as well as describing Mahayana's philosophy. All the students of Nalanda had studied Mahayana as well as 18 sects of Buddha.
